We are pleased to announce that Summer GCSE and GCE Examination results will be available for collection on Thursday 25th August from 10.00am until 1.00pm at Manning School’s Theatre Box Office. It is essential that Year 11 students collect these as they will be required by colleges and sixth forms until your certificates are available. If certificates are being collected by a family member or a friend, a letter of consent from the student must be brought with the person collecting the results. Results cannot be collected on someone else’s behalf without this.

All students in year 7 get the chance to learn an instrument as part of their music curriculum. The girls have recently been preparing and performing their own film compositions. Year 7 are also beginning the musical cycles unit where they get to learn about African drumming and try it out for themselves. Year 8 are putting together their own girl bands and have been working hard to put a performance together. They have covered every style from pop to rock to hip hop and are enjoying the whole experience.

Years 9 and 10 worked together on a Peace Day as part of their Citizenship work in school on the last day before the Easter holidays. I was really impressed with the way that they worked on the day. The behaviour of the students was excellent and they produced some amazing work which they should all be proud of. Students took part in a range of workshops; from creating a graffiti wall, to producing art work inspired by famous quotations about peace, to producing a piece of drama which illustrates how countries make peace following a conflict. Well done to all the students involved who demonstrated that peace starts with the individual in their own community

Manning School held a panel debate entitled Your Questions and invited various members of the community to attend and discuss important issues. The evening included a theatre performance developed with Fifth World Theatre Group. The event was attended by two MPs, an MEP, an asylum seeker and the Chair of Refugee Action. There was also a presentation by the Aegis Trust. The event was a great success and was well supported by students and staff from Manning. Thank you to everyone involved.
