Performing Arts Status for Manning School
After much hard work over the course of the last year, It is with great pleasure that we can announce that we have been succesful in our bid to become a Specialist Performing Arts College. The announcement was made by the Minister, Lord Adonis, on February 1st 2007 and will become effective from Septemer 2007 .
What does this mean for the school?
- We will be one of two specialist Performing Arts Colleges in the City
- We will be given a substantial amount of money to spend on the Performing Arts and using the arts in the wider curriculum.
What does this mean for your daughter?
- Your daughter will still be offered the same subjects and examination courses that she was before
- She will be offered greater opportunities within the Performing Arts and across the curriculum
What will she get that she did not get before?
- Funded visits to concerts and theatres
- Funded instrumental lessons
- Opportunities to participate in residential events linked to the arts
- Saturday morning workshops in Dance, Drama and Music
- The opportunity for further arts based activities and experiences in all lessons of the curriculum
- Greater links and opportunities for post-16 courses in Performing Arts
What does it mean for you and your family?
- You will have access to courses offered in Dance, Drama and Music held in the evenings which will be funded
- Younger members of your family will be able to attend weekend and holiday courses in the Arts
The status will bring increased opportunities to develop the teaching and learning in the school in exciting new ways. It will be used to support the raising achievement agenda which is at the heart of everything we do.
